Renal Colic - General Information

Renal colic is very strong, sharp, heartbreaking pain, which originated in dorsal area (on the back) and kidney projection area (below the last coast).
The pain radiates to the upper area, to belly, to the front of the foot and external genital organs (penis, scrotum, vulva). Renal colic pain is not continuous and often comes in waves: moments of calm followed by intensive pain, all depending on the type or size of the kidney stones that are moving through the urinal tract..
The patient becomes restless, always seeking for a position of comfort that in most cases is hard to find (it was said: "colic nefret is frenetic"). Agitation is a very important in diagnosting renal colic patient since abdominal pain (peritonitis, for example) immobilizes the patient.
The renal colic pain may accompany the digestive phenomena such as nausea, vomiting or bloating, mental signs - excitement, fear, cardiovascular signs - blood pressure and / or accelerated pulse, or unchanged.
Renal colic pain may be associated with other signs of disorders: oliguria, anuria (decreased volume of urine), dysuria (difficulty or urination), hematuria (urine is red, probably due to the abnormal blood pressure), increased urinary frequency (urinary more, over 5 / days), pelvic-perineal pain (pain similar to menstrual pain as the seat and nature, but not related to menstruation).
