Renal Colic Diagnosis is made on the renal colic symptoms
For certainty of the disease, the following tests will be made:
1. Ultrasound - which will highlight the establishment and nature of the obstacle (kidney stones)
2. Radiography - allows viewing of bladder stones or calculation
3. Urine summary exam - show the composition of urine: blood, germs and white blood cells (sign of UTI) and fine sand (crystalluria).
Stones of a few millimeters will be evacuated through urine by drinking a large quantity of water per day to help the stone passes. If the kidney stone is large than 1 cm or does not pass by itself, the doctor may need to remove the stone.
The diagnosis of renal colic is not simple. There are many diseases that can mimic a renal colic: biliary colic, appendicitis, ulcers crisis, pancreatitis.
